Rules
Updated 3 November 2026
Runewing is for private letters between people who know each other: a secret, a confession, a riddle, a Halloween scare among friends. Before sending, you tick a box to confirm that you have read and accept these rules and the Privacy notice. We store which version you accepted and when.
Not allowed
- Threats of violence, intimidation, blackmail or extortion.
- Harassment and repeated letters to someone who doesn’t want them.
- Hate against people because of their origin, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or other traits.
- Any sexual content involving minors.
- Fraud, phishing, impersonating someone else, spam.
- Anything else that is illegal where you or the recipient live.
Links aren’t allowed in letters, riddles or names: this protects recipients from phishing. The “From” name is visible to anyone in link previews, and both names are visible on the letter page before it opens, so offensive names are blocked.
You are responsible for your letter
The sender is responsible for what a letter says. Runewing delivers letters but doesn’t read them: a letter is decrypted only for the recipient, or when we review a complaint about it.
Unsigned, but not untraceable
You can send letters, whispers and posts without a signature: the recipient won’t know who you are unless you tell them. So that we can deal with threats and other abuse, we keep the sender’s IP address and browser for 90 days. Only a moderator reviewing a complaint sees them, and we hand them to authorities only on a lawful request. Details are in Privacy.
What “burns after reading” means
A one-time letter can’t be opened again by anyone, including you and the recipient. For 30 days we keep its encrypted text only to review complaints, then erase it. Details are in Privacy.
Reports
If a letter breaks these rules, report it on its page, through the report form or by writing to abuse [at] runewing.com. The letter is sealed immediately: its link shows a “Hidden after a report” seal instead of the text. We review it and then delete it, keep it hidden, or restore it if no rule was broken. If someone’s life or safety is at risk, we contact the police and give them the data we have on a lawful request. If you are in danger, contact the police first.
Automatic limits
To protect recipients from spam, Runewing limits how often letters can be sent from one address, network or device, and how often the same text can be sent. If someone keeps breaking the limits or their letters get reported, sending slows down, the browser is asked to solve a short “not a bot” check, and then sending is blocked for a day, a week or up to 30 days. Signed-in accounts can also follow up to 50 people a day and send up to 50 letters a day, of them up to 30 directly to friends. Threats and illegal content lead to an immediate block. If you think you were limited by mistake, write to abuse [at] runewing.com.
Profiles and nicknames
A profile (nickname, name and bio) follows the same rules as letters: no threats, hate, links or offensive names. Don’t pretend to be another person, a brand or Runewing itself. Only friends, meaning people who follow each other, can send letters to each other directly. You can block anyone: after that, neither of you sees the other’s profile or can write to the other.
Some nicknames are reserved: every nickname shorter than four characters, service words, names of well-known brands and people, and some themed words. A reserved nickname shows as taken, and we may assign it later, for example to the owner of a brand. We may take away a nickname that impersonates someone or breaks these rules, and ban the account. A profile can be reported from its page.
Walls, whispers and rune cards
Posts on profile walls and rune cards are public, and whispers go only to your tribe. They follow the same rules as letters: no threats, hate, links or spam. A reported wall post or whisper is hidden at once, a rune card after two reports, until we review it.
Reports from different people count against the author’s account, whatever was reported: a letter, a wall post, a whisper or a profile. Three reports within 30 days block the account for a day, the next time for a week, then for 30 days, and after that for good.
Age
You must be at least 16 years old, or older if the law in your country requires it, to send letters.
Who runs Runewing
Runewing is run by a sole trader registered in Poland: Oleh Kosarenko, Polska. Contact: abuse [at] runewing.com.
Changes
We change these rules only for a good reason: when we add, change or remove features, when the law or an authority requires it, or to protect people from abuse, fraud or security risks. The date at the top shows the current version.
Small fixes that don’t affect your rights, such as typos or clearer wording, apply right away. We will tell you about any significant change at least 14 days before it takes effect, with a notice on the site and, if you have an account, by email. If a change is required by law or is urgently needed to stop abuse, it may apply sooner, and we will tell you as soon as we can.
Changes never take away anything you have already paid for. If you don’t agree with a change, you can stop using Runewing and delete your account in Settings at any time, free of charge. If you keep using Runewing after a change takes effect, the new rules apply to you.
